The former Bar Trinidad in calle Chaparil, Nerja, has just been transformed into the Crustaceo Crujiente, a tapas bar open from 09:00 until late every day. And wow, the size of the tapas! Be interesting to see if they can keep that up.
Il Ritrovo closed
Looks like Il Ritrovo in Plaza la Marina, Nerja, is already up for sale. Didn’t last very long. That’s Marrakech, Burguer Homer and Il Ritrovo all biting the dust in that location in a very short space of time. Only the old Napulé managed to keep going for a reasonable time.
Cider and tapas
The former Alameda on calle Jaén is now a Cider House, Sidreria El Llagar, serving Asturian cider and various Asturian tapas with the odd novelty thrown in for good measure.
Candela in Plaza Cavana
The former Cavana 5 in Plaza Cavana, Nerja, a long and narrow bar with an Andalucian patio and small street terrace, is now called Candela.
One closes, another one opens
La Candela on calle Chaparil, Nerja, (next to restaurant Jacky) has closed – nobody seems to be able to make that location work. And Barbacoa on calle Jaén has reopened.
Tapa at Mauri, El Playazo beach
At €1 for a beer and a tapa, Mauri on El Playazo beach in Nerja has to be one of the best value places in town. Not only that, it has a nice garden area, ample seating inside and the atmosphere is always good.
Tapa at La Tahona
Popped in for an ‘on the way home from shopping’ tapa at La Tahona in Plaza Garcia Caparros, Nerja. Any excuse, really. It was very relaxing sitting outside at one of the high tables in the square.
La Ferreteria
Not all bars are open all the time and I finally managed to be passing La Ferreteria in calle Rodrigues Acosta, Nerja, when it was open, but only just! Excellent little bar, great decor and a sense of ‘friendly atmosphere’ as soon as you enter. A beer will cost you €1.70.
Bar Pancho, new bar in town
The former Meson El Coto in calle Antonio Millón, Nerja, has been transformed into the Bar Pancho.
Bollywood Bombay
There is a new Indian restaurant on calle Los Huertos, Nerja, taking over the premises formerly occupied by La Galeria. The new restaurant is called Bollywood Bombay.
