Having decided that today was ‘paella day’, I headed off to Burriana beach. I decided to try the paella at Merendero Moreno, and for two reasons: one, I haven’t had paella there before and two, more importantly, it was the only place with a table free. Should have been a clue!

Local wine and tapa at Los Bilbainos
Los Bilbainos in calle Alejandro Bueno never changes, and long may the situation continue. Popped in for a glass of local wine – chose Málaga sweet this time, but they also have Arenas, Canillas, Frigiliana and Competa wines from the barrel.
Morning coffee at Duque
Having time to kill before my bus I decided to pop into Duque on calle Pintada for morning coffee, the first time I’d actually been in. Duque is frequently recommended as a great breakfast place.
Smuggler’s Inn closes
The Smuggler’s Inn on avenida Castilla Perez has closed.
Cafe Bar Capricho Andaluz
The former Clipper II on the edge of Plaza Tutti Frutti, Nerja, is now the Cafe Bar Capricho Andaluz, so that change didn’t take too long.
Los Bukaneros
The former bar/cafe Alexa on prolongación Antonio Millón, Nerja, is now Los Bukaneros.
Maui and The Codfather remain sealed
Maui in Plaza Tutti Frutti and The Codfather on avenida Mediterraneo in Nerja both remain sealed by the Local Police, the infringements obviously not yet sorted out to the satisfaction of the authorities.
El Patio and Co
In the passageway connecting calle Pintada and calle Cristo, Nerja, is a new ‘drinks lounge’ called El Patio and Co. It has a few tables set out in the patio with a nice view of the fountain.
Barbacoa closes
The Barbacoa tapas bar and roast place on calle Jaén, Nerja, didn’t last very long at all, the premises all shut up and a for ‘rent sign’ in the window.
