Holidays and renovations
Cafeteria Marissal on the Balcón de Europa is closed until February 10th, V Italiano at the side of the church is closed until January 22nd, Gusti y Sapori on calle Cristo is closed and up for sale and Albi on the Balcón de Europa is closed for renovations.
La Piscina being renovated
The tapas bar La Piscina on calle La Cruz is currently closed for what look like extensive interior renovations.
Casa Luque closed for winter break
The restaurant and tapas bar Casa Luque in Plaza Cavana is now closed for its traditional winter break.
New Year’s Day at Bamboo
A glorious, sunny New Year’s day and the restaurants down on Plaza Fabrica de los Cangrejos were very busy for New Year’s Day, particularly the terraces. At Bamboo I had a rather delicious ‘Merluza a la Vasca’ – hake cooked Basque style – which includes mussels, prawns, asparagus, an array of veggies, rice and chips.
New Year’s Eve tapa
Absolutely divine ‘rosada’ tapa at Los Pescaitos on calle Chaparil, tender and covered in a lovely garlic sauce. A beer and a tapa sets you back €1.60.
Post Christmas tapas
First stop the Round Bar – El Redondo – in calle Gloria, nearly always lively and serving good tapas before moving on to Vicente in calle Málaga. At €1.30 for a beer and a tapa, Vicente is very hard to beat on the value for money front.
Christmas Eve tapas
Christmas Eve, a good day for a short (two bar) tapas run, and it was Sevillano on calle Chaparil and La Bodeguilla on calle Antonio Millón. Both bars were suitably packed at lunchtime, La Bodeguilla predominantly Spanish and Sevillanos more of a mix, and both had an excellent, jovial atmosphere. Meson Doña Lola
It was a nice little French tea house, then for a short while, the Del Arte pizzeria, and now it is to become Meson Doña Lola. It is in Plaza Balcon de Europa, Nerja, and looks like it should be opening for business fairly shortly.
Chique has opened again
Chique on calle Chaparil, down towards Torrecilla beach, is open once more under new ownership.
