Rincon del Sabor is at the bottom of calle Ruperto Anduez, Nerja, not far from the Parador, and is excellent value for snacks, tapas and meals. José may rarely smile, as many people comment, but Estella is always bubbly and jovial. All part of the ‘character’ of the place.
Cafe-Bar 18
The Almanar teteria at the junction of calle Almeria and calle Antonio Ferrandis ‘Chanquete’ has changed hands and is now the cerveceria and taperia Cafe Bar 18.
End of the Cafe Cantarero?
It looks like the little cafe on Plaza Cantarero has finally decided to close, a shame. They never really recovered from losing their terrace during the long, drawn-out renovation of the square as the cafe itself is tiny and could not hold more than a few people. Las Peinetas reopens yet again
Las Peinetas on calle San Miguel, Nerja, almost opposite the Mercadona, has reopened again. Let’s hope the latest set of owners can make a go of it.
Supersol BBQ
The Supersol cafe on calle San Miguel is offering an interesting BBQ buffet for €7.95. Generally very good quality food and a reasonable price.
Lunch at Bamboo
Bamboo on Plaza Fabrica de los Cangrejos in Nerja is in a great location, overlooking both the square and the sea at Torrecilla beach. Always a nice atmosphere for sipping a cocktail, I decided it was about time to sample the lunch menu. So I did.

The Cavana is Plaza Cavana is one of the oldest bars in Nerja, is quite spacious inside and has a small street terrace. Like La Biznaga, the tapas are not included in the price of drinks and this makes it quite pricey at €2.80 for a beer and a tapa.
Tapas at Antelo
Cheap and cheerful as ever at Antelo in Plaza de la Ermita, Nerja. I had a very nice ‘Pinchito’ consisting of two chunks of meat, tomato, pepper and onion and a beer and a tapa cost just €1.20. Excellent value. The skewer was metal which meant that, in my haste, I burned my fingers, but that was my fault for …
The new California restaurant
This is the new look, from the outside anyway, of the new California restaurant in calle Cristo, Nerja.
Tapas at El 7
El 7 is a large, spacious split level bar up by the bus station (glorified layby) in Nerja serving all sorts of food including tapas. On this occasion I had ´Mejillones’ (Mussels) followed by a portion of Lasagne.
