Work has started to clean up the beach at Rinconcillo, Algeciras, following an oil spill from a Liberian registered container ship yesterday.
Temporary rail closure
The rail link between Algeciras and Bobadilla is now closed for repairs and is likely to remain out of operation for about five months. The last train departed at 15:00 on Sunday.

Guardia Civil officers in Algeciras yesterday detained two people who were trying to smuggle a Moroccan minor into Spain in the boot of a car. The minor was taken into protective custody.
Abandoned
Guardia Civil officers in Algeciras discovered 78.7 kilos of hashish abandoned near cala Lozano. The discovery came shortly after a jet ski was spotted heading towards shore at high speed.
Body of missing walker found
The body of an 18 year old youth who fell into the sea while walking near Punta Carnero, Algeciras, has been found.

In Algeciras, police have arrested Francisco Luque as the alleged killer of retired police officer Juan Montiel at his home in the Rinconcillo district of the city.
Fire in Chorrosquina forces evacuation of 118 people
A fire in Chorrosquina, Algeciras, last night resulted in the destruction of 25 hectares of scrub and woodland and forced the evacuation of 118 people from their homes.
8 detained for trafficking in immigrants
A total of eight people have now been detained as part of Operation Pranzo, an investigation into crimes against the rights and freedoms of foreigners.
Cocaine haul
During a routine customs check at Algeciras port, officials became suspicious about a container which had arrived from Ecuador. Inside they found a suitcase containing 32.5 kilos of cocaine. No arrests have yet been made.
