New municipal ordinance for street traders in Álora

Álora Council has approved a new municipal ordinance relating to street trading, both as regards fixed markets and trading on the public roads. The measure, in line with European standards, opens the door to the expansion of the weekly Monday market held in calle Carmona.

Pizarra and Álora radio stations merge

The municipalities of Pizarra and Álora have signed an agreement to merge their two radio stations into one unit under the name ‘Voz del Guadalhorce’ – Voice of the Guadalhorce. They are also looking at incorporating Cártama into the agreement.

Restoration of Álora castle

Álora Council has approved a modified draft project and contract specifications for the restoration of the Castillo de Las Torres. The technical criteria were modified after excavations unearthed some surprises, such as some XVI century wall paintings.

Álora swimming pool saga

Álora Council has approved a modification to the indoor heated swimming pool project and extended the deadline for its completion. The foundation stone for the project was laid back in 2006 but the works have since suffered countless delays.

Red Palm Weevil in Álora

Álora Council has started a new campaign to counter the highly destructive Red Palm Weevil that affects hundreds of trees in the municipality. The local company Jardisal is injecting infected trees with a chemical which is said to have an immediate effect and hundreds of trees have so far been treated.

IX Día de las Sopas Perotas in Álora

Today, Saturday, is the IX Día de las Sopas Perotas in Álora, the events taking place in plaza Baja. In addition to tasting this popular local dish there will be around 70 stalls with local delicacies and traditional crafts from the Guadalhorce district.
