Violent robbery in Málaga leaves youth in hospital

A 20 year old youth is in the Carlos Haya hospital in Málaga after being attacked with a knife and a stick, the motive of the assult apparently being to relieve him of his mobile phone. The incident took place at around 20:50 on Tuesday evening in calle Cataluña. The youth’s injuries are not said to be serious.

Ronda Feria budget cut

The May Feria in Ronda (Real Feria de Mayo) will this year be without the traditional sampling of local agricultural produce, the cutback being part of Ronda’s plan to pay over €11 million in outstanding debts to suppliers.

Ronda issues 63 demolition orders

Ronda Council has ordered the demolition of 63 buildings built between 2003 and 2009 on protected, undeveloped land.

Mercadona for Algarrobo Costa

The food distribution company Mercadona has chosen Algarrobo Costa as the site for its tenth facility in the Axarquia, the other nine being in Rincón de la Victoria (3), Vélez-Málaga and Torre del Mar (4), Torrox (1) and Nerja (1).

Second runway at Málaga airport expected to open in June

The airport authority AENA currently expects the new second runway at Málaga airport to be inaugurated in June and when fully operational, it will allow 72 planes to land and take off each hour compared to the current figure of 37.

Wild boar on the AP-46, or not

The Casabermeja Association of Hunters has denounced the presence of wild boar crossing the A-46 near Las Pedrizas and is asking the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration to sort out administrative problems which prevent them from ‘controlling’ these animals.

Torrox Council awards management contract for day centre

Torrox Council has finally awarded the definitive contract for the management of the day centre located near El Faro to Claros S. C. A., having been deliberating the matter since the completion of the building in April 2007. The building is 1,000 square metres with space for 30 people.
