Unemployment in Andalucia fell by 8,700 people during the second quarter of 2011, a decrease of 0.73% over the previous quarter. Official unemployment in Andalucia currently stands at 1,178,900 or 29.71 per cent of the working population.
A warm weekend
Clear skies and sun are the order of the day for the last weekend in July with temperatures topping 40 degrees in parts of Andalucia and Extremadura. The first few days of August could see storms and rain in the northern half of Spain as a cold front moves across the peninsular from southwest to northeast.

Nerja tops the athletics medals table
Local Nerja athletes dominated the Andalucian Athletics Championships held at the Municipal Sports Stadium at the weekend to top the medals table with 41 gongs. Unicaja Jaén were second with 24 medals.
785 illegal immigrants intercepted so far this year
So far this year, a total of 785 illegal immigrants in 34 boats have arrived off the coast of Andalucia, the most recent being on Thursday evening when a small craft carrying 15 passengers, one of them a minor, was intercepted about 7 miles south of Motril, Granada province.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 1.3% in Andalucia during April when compared to the previous month to give an annual rate of 3.9%.
Unemployment in Andalucia continues to rise
Unemployment in Andalucia rose by 60,200 during the first quarter of 2011 and the jobless total now stands at 1,187,000, representing 29.86% of the workforce.
Crafts Fair in Ronda
The Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos de Santo Domingo in Ronda is hosting a crafts fair from April 29th to May 1st featuring traditional crafts of Andalucia and Morocco. The fair will move to San Nicolás del Puerto (Sevilla) in May and to Tangier in June.
