A mild autumn is predicted

After the hottest summer in Andalucia since 1970, AEMET is predicting an autumn without heavy rains, as was experienced last year, and with average temperatures up by half a degree. Average temperatures of 11.6 degrees are predicted for October, November and December.

Storm warning for Andalucia

The Meteorological Office (AEMET) has issued storm warnings for all of Andalucia today, with Cádiz, Málaga and Sevilla on Orange Alert and Córdoba, Granada, Huelva and Jaén on Yellow Alert.

The summer heat claimed 7 lives in Andalucia

The hot weather in Andalucia in July and August claimed the lives of seven people, six men and one woman, either as a result of heat stroke or the aggravation of an existing illness.

Move to ban bullfighting in Andalucia

The Andalucian Parliament Bureau has agreed to accept a legislative initiative from the Commission Investigating Animal Abuse (CIMA) to make an amendment to the regional law of animal protection to place a ban on bullfighting within the region as well as prohibiting any bull shows which result in the death or suffering of the animal.

Increase in unemployment

Registered unemployment in Spain rose by 1.5% in August to 3,969,661. This follows four consecutive months of decline in the number out of work. Unemployment in Andalucia also rose by 1.5% to stand at 877,011.
