Ten members of a drugs smuggling network, including the ringleaders, have been arrested in various parts of Andalucia as they tried to smuggle 2,300 kilos of hashish from Morocco to France via Spain.
Ronda to Algeciras rail link reopens
The rail link between Ronda and Algeciras is open once again after being closed on October 26th due to renovations along the section between Ronda and Cortes de la Frontera.
First quarter tourism
Figures for the first quarter of 2010 show that a total of 8.81 million foreign visitors arrived in Spain during the period, up 0.3% on the same period last year, with Andalucia registering a 7.4% increase.
Overnight rains causing problems on the roads
Overnight rains have caused problems in several parts of Andalucia with a number of roads having to be closed due to flooding.

An earthquake measuring 4.8 in the Richter scale was felt in various parts of Andalucia just after midnight but there are no reports of any damage, material or personal.
Municipal debts
The local Andalucian municipalities are in debt to the tune of €4,569 million as of December 2009 according to the Ministry of Economics and Finance.
Alonso on tourism
The Minister for Tourism, Trade and Sport, Luciano Alonso, has stated that tourism for Andalucia during Holy Week has been excellent with hotel occupancy of around 80%.
Rail strike today
Around 54 middle-distance, AVE high-speed and Avant trains have been cancelled today in Andalucia as a result of a one day strike called by the Union CGT. Many local train services will also be affected.
High winds expected in some areas of Andalucia
Weather alerts for high winds up to 70 kph today in Almeria, particularly along the coast, Guadix and Baza in Granada province and Cazorla and Segura in Jaén province. The alerts are in effect until midnight tonight.
10 Lynx expected to die this year from chronic renal disease
The program to save the Iberian Lynx, the most critically endangered species on the planet, is set to suffer a setback as 10 of the 70 cats are expected to die within a year of chronic renal disease. There are a further 14 animals suffering from the disease, discovered in 2009, and 4 animals have already died from the disease.
