Rain expected throughout Andalucia

All provinces in Andalucia with the exception of Almeria are on alert for wind and rain today, with up to 80 litres per square metres expected in some areas, particularly along the Costa del Sol and inland around Ronda and Antequera.

18 arrested in VAT fraud

Eighteen people have been arrested in connection with a multi-million euro VAT fraud, the detentions taking place in Málaga, Madrid, Granada and Melilla.

Domestic violence fatality in Almeria

Police in Almeria have arrested a Bolivian citizen as the alleged killer of his wife, a 26 year old woman with whom he had two children aged 5 years and 7 years.

€127 million earmarked to cover storm damage

The Junta de Andalucia has earmarked €127 million to help cover the storm damage in the province between December 21st 2009 and January 11th 2010. Snow, strong winds and heavy rains caused much damage to agriculture and  rural and secondary roads in the region.

Foreigners Department for Vélez-Málaga

The official foreign population of Vélez-Málaga already accounts for 15% of the population so the Council has established a Resident Service Office in Torre del Mar to support and assist the foreign community.

Roadworks visit

The provincial deputy for Development and Provincial Roads, Cristóbal Guerrero, yesterday visited the site of works on the MA-5401 linking El Burgo with Casarabonela. The €900,000 project is split into three phases and covers a three kilometre stretch of the road.
