Nine arrested in drugs raid in Jaén

Nine people have been arrested in Jaén province in connection with drug trafficking, all members of a family clan known as ‘Los Mallarines’.

Fifteen arrests for sexual exploitation in Cádiz

Guardia Civil officers in Cádiz and Málaga are currently carrying out controls on a number of ‘alternative’ bars in the area and fifteen people have so far been detained on charges of sexual exploitation.

Three injured in fire

Three people were injured and a further six had to be evacuated from their homes as a result of a fire at an apartment block in Nerva, Huelva province.

Climber dies in Álora

A 24 year old Swiss man has died after falling from a height of around six metres while climbing near the ‘Caminito del Rey’ in the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes (gorge) in Álora.

Cold in Jaén

The cold weather throughout Andalucia in recent days saw the temperature fall to eight below zero in the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas in Jaén province, the town of  Santiago Pontones being one of the coldest places. Snow chains have been necessary in several areas.

Hospital waiting lists

In June 2009, the latest available figures show that there were a total of 40,154 Andalucians on the waiting lists of hospitals for non-urgent surgery and all are within the guaranteed maximum waiting period of 180 days.
