Heavy overnight rain has caused 22 roads to be closed in Andalucia this morning, including a section of highway between Jerez de la Frontera and Cádiz.

People in Andalucia spent €328.2 million on the Christmas lottery, a decrease of 3.67% on last year.
Bad weather causing havoc
The bad weather has been causing problems throughout Andalucía. In Villamartín, a 73 year old man drowned after his car left the bridge over the río Guadalete, the second fatality in the region as a result of the bad weather.
Weather alerts
Huelva, Sevilla, Cádiz, Córdoba, Málaga and western Granada are on ‘orange alert’ for heavy rains and strong winds, the rest of Andalucia remains on ‘yellow alert’.

According to a survey by the Consumers Union of Andalucía, people are likely to spend around 20% less on Christmas celebrations this year but more on the various lotteries.
Earthquake felt throughout Andalucia
An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter Scale was felt throughout Andalucia early this morning although there are no reports of damage.
Warmer but wetter
The good news is that a warmer weather front is approaching Andalucia from the south-west and temperatures should increase. The bad news is that rain is expected as from tomorrow, Wednesday, in many parts of the region.
Tourism Master Plan for Andalucia
An increase of 20% in low season tourism and a 10% increase in tourist spending is the objective of the new Regional Tourism Marketing Plan for 2009-2012 which was presented in Málaga today.
