María Luisa Infante, eldest daughter of Blas Infante, regarded as the father of Andalucian autonomy, has died at her home in La Puebla del Río, Sevilla, at the age of 81 years.

At the Andalucían athletics championships for juniors held at the stadio Iberoamericano in Huelva, local athletes from the Club Nerja de Atletismo,Cueva de Nerja-UMA, came back with thirteen medals including three gold.

CPI

The Consumer Price Index rose by 0.4% in Andalucía in June with the interannual rate now standing at -1.2%. Nationally, the CPI also rose by 0.4% but the interannual rate fell by one tenth to -1.0%.

Fall in passenger numbers to Andalucían airports

Airports in Andalucía recorded a total of 6,873,363 passengers during the first five months of 2009 according to AENA, the Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea, a drop of 17.4% compared to the same period in 2008.
