Chiringuitos to remain where they are

At least for the moment, the beach ‘chiringuitos’ in Andalucía will remain exactly where they are as the various parties in the dispute move closer to an agreement on the future of such establishments.

Motoring offences

During 2008, a total of 15,000 Andalucíans appeared before the courts charged with various motoring offences and 100 of these are currently in jail either as repeat offenders or for serious traffic crimes, some of which resulted in a fatality.

Enough water

The Ministry of Environment reports that the reservoirs in Andalucía are in a healthy state and there will be no problems with supply during the summer.

Could be a hot one

The Meteorological Agency has put Jaén, Córdoba and Sevilla on ‘orange alert’ for temperatures of 40 degrees and Huelva and Granada on ‘yellow alert’ for temperatures of 38 degrees. The alerts are in effect until 19:00 today, Friday. Yesterday in Córdoba, temperatures reached the 40 degree mark.

Law of Death with Dignity

The Andalucían Government has approved the draft law ‘Ley de Derechos y Garantías de la Dignidad de las Personas en el Proceso de la Muerte’, a law safeguarding the rights and dignity of individuals who are in the process of dying.

FACUA survey of bars in Andalucía

The consumer group FACUA has been carrying out a survey of around 670 bars in 21 cities in Andalucía in relation to the conservation of food, hygiene, information, accessibility to users with limited mobility and compliance with the tobacco laws.

310 new pharmacies for Andalucía

Andalucía is set to have another 310 pharmacies as, for the first time in the region, these are being put out to tender and will be judged on the basis of technical and professional merit.
