The Association of Street Vendors in Málaga (AVAM) is up in arms against the decision by Torrox Council to put all the licences for the three municipal markets, around 150 places, out to tender.

Following hot on the heels of approval of the new market site by the Provincial Consortium of Firefighters, both the CMA (Cuenca Mediterránea Andaluza) and the Local Police have also presented their reports as requested by the Ombudsman, mediator in the local dispute.

The Nerja Council is planning to approve a new city ordinance at its next plenary session on April 25th which gives the Council regulatory control over the weekly market.
Nerja market traders not giving up the fight
The Nerja market traders are certainly not giving up their cause without a fight. Opposed to the move from the current El Chaparil site to the new location at ‘the end of the world’ (Almijara II), the traders are now asking the Provincial Fire Consortium to carry out a safety inspection of the new site.
