The municipality of Almachar in Málaga province, population around 2,100, is increasing its financial aid to families who have a baby during 2013, the so-called ‘baby cheque’.
El Burgo increases value of ‘baby cheque’
The town of El Burgo, population around 2,000 people, has increased the size of its ‘baby cheque’ from €300 to €1,000 in order to encourage procreation within the municipality. In 2012, only five new babies arrived on the scene, whereas there were nearly two dozen deaths.
Baby Cheque system for Montejaque
The authorities in Montejaque, keen to maintain a population in excess of 1,000 for financial reasons as well as help young families, has introduced its own ‘baby cheque’ system.
