The lights are going up
The Christmas lights are being installed on the Balcon de Europa today. At the same time, the palm trees along the walkway down to the promontory are being trimmed. The whole garden area along both sides of the walkway is in the throes of having new plants, shrubs and trees planted. Should look nice when it’s finished.

A trip round some of the major building works today, see how they’re progressing. The square behind the Balcón de Europa has the primary surface in place although very little, if any, activity in this area this morning.
Roadworks meet
The roadworks in calle Carmen have now reached the building works in Plaza Cavana. The first stretch, near Puerta del Mar, is being paved with small (10x10x10cm (ish)) blocks, a slow process. Balcón de Europa and Plaza Cavana
These are the latest pictures from the Balcón de Europa and Plaza Cavana as the two sets of roadworks continue to converge, work now going on at the side of the El Salvador church. Several businesses have already been forced to close until the works are completed, a few more may well have to follow suit.

The big trenches in Calle Carmen (Balcon de Europa) are starting to be filled and the surface flattened.

This woman drove down calle Pintada (pedestrianised), then down Puerta del Mar and made a quick trip all the way round the Balcon de Europa, down the central pedestrian area and then back up the side.
New shrubs on the Balcón de Europa
In addition to all the other works on the Balcón de Europa, workmen were out today tending to the garden areas. Looks like a lot of new plants and shrubs are being planted.
