As from this weekend, vehicular access to five beaches in the Cabo de Gata Natural Park in Almeria is severely restricted in an attempt to preserve the environment.
20 lifeguards on duty in Rincón de la Victoria
A total of twenty personnel will be on duty on the beaches of Rincón de la Victoria from now until September 15th to monitor and assist the public.
The beaches now have lifeguards
From now until September 15th, there will be lifeguards on the beaches between 11:30 and 20:00. In total there will be 69 lifeguards employed on the various beaches.
More awards for Nerja beaches
Absolutely amazing, the awards keep flying in for the beaches in Nerja. In addition to 4 Blue Flags and 2 Q for Quality awards, 9 municipal beaches have also been awarded the brand new ISO9001 certificate.

Sad to see the demise of El Cangrejo after all these years, an excellent tapas bar full of atmosphere. The rumours are that one of the owners did a midnight runner with the cash and stock, something one has always been more accustomed to hearing about in relation to foreign owners of premises.

Action urged on preventing beach erosion
The Councillor for Beaches, Jonathan Méndez, has stated that he ‘values highly’ a motion presented to the Senate by the Popular Parliamentary Group urging the Government to take action, provided there are no adverse technical or environmental issues, for the stabilization of a number of beaches in the province of Málaga, including El Playazo, La Torrecilla and Burriana in Nerja.
