One man has died and six others have been hospitalised early this morning in Almeria city, possibly as a result of poisoning during a botellón (street drinking party).
Alternatives to drinking
Following constant complaints from local residents, continuous damage to street furniture and problems with the amount of debris, Nerja Council has decreed an end to the ‘botellón’ – street drinking – in the Parque Verano Azul.
Coín Council to do more to curb the ‘botellón
Following a meeting of the Local Security Board in Coín, attended by Council members and representatives of the Local Police and Guardia Civil, Mayor Gabriel Clavijo promised more action to curb the practice of ‘botellón’ (street drinking) in the municipality following an upsurge in street drinking.
End of the ‘botellón’ in Conil de la Frontera
This weekend will be the last ‘botellón’ in the town of Conil de la Frontera, Cádiz province, the Council deciding to ban the activity, which took place on the Paseo Maritimo. Offenders will, as from July 1st, face a fine of €300 if they contravene the new regulations.
Alhaurín de la Torre gets tough on under age drinking
The Local Police in Alhaurín de la Torre have started a campaign to control street drinking (the botellón) and alcohol consumption by minors. Two premises have so far been closed for providing drinks to minors and 81 people have been cited for the consumption of alcohol on the public thoroughfare.
Botellón brawl leaves youth seriously injured
A youth in his twenties was seriously injured following a brawl during the regular botellón held near the Faculty of Business at Córdoba University. The youth suffered knife wounds to the neck and arm and is currently in the Hospital Reina Sofía in Córdoba.

Spring is in the air and, as happens every year, young people are gathering in several cities for impromptu ‘botellóns’ – street drinking parties – organised via the social network TUENTI.
Two Local Police officers injured
Two Local Police officers were injured on Sunday night in Granada after they tried to stop a group of youths engaging in an unauthorised ‘botellón’.

The Councillor for Youth, Charo Villasclaras, has announced that there will be an increased Local Police presence in the Parque Verano Azul to ensure that revellers observe the rules laid down for the weekly ‘botellón’.
