The Junta de Andalucia has presented plans for savings which include budget reductions, reduced salaries for civil servants and increased taxes.
Ronda Feria budget cut
The May Feria in Ronda (Real Feria de Mayo) will this year be without the traditional sampling of local agricultural produce, the cutback being part of Ronda’s plan to pay over €11 million in outstanding debts to suppliers.
Government approves €27.3 billion budget cuts
The Government has approved a record €27.3 billion package of austerity measures including freezing public sector workers’ salaries and reducing departmental budgets by 16.9%. The government says it will raise 12.3bn euros this year, aided by an increase in tax for large companies.
Álora feria starts on Wednesday
Áloria Feria, which starts on Wednesday August 3rd and continues until Sunday, is yet another local celebration to be hit by budget cuts.
Ronda feria will suffer budget cuts
Ronda Council is also suffering from a lack of funds which means that the budget for this year’s feria from August 30th to September 4th will be around 50% less than last year.
Torre del Mar feria budget cuts
The Feria de Santiago y Santa Ana takes place in Torre del Mar from July 22nd to July 26th and, as a result of yet more budget cuts, there will be no famous artists or musical groups appearing at this year’s event.
