Council still seeking control over issuing of building licences in Maro
The Council has approved another motion requesting the Ministry of Culture of the Junta de Andalucia to delegate the responsibility for issuing building licences in Maro to the municipality of Nerja.
Greenpeace on the destruction of the shoreline
According to Greenpèace, construction on the first 500 metres of coastline in Spain during the period 1987 to 2005 took place at the rate of two acres per day, with Andalucia being the third worst offender.
Construction at the eastern end of Nerja
The plot of land at the eastern end of town between the Hotel Los Arcos and Hotel Nerja Club, opposite Capistrano Village, is now a large construction site. It is widely believed, although, unusually, not officially confirmed, that it will be a new large Mercadona supermarket.
Visit to Social Services building
The president of Málaga Council, Elias Bendodo, joined a number of local politicians on a visit to the new Social Services building which, although now finished, is still not open as it is pending administrative approval by the Junta de Andalucia.
Grant received to complete Social Services centre
The Council has received funding from the provincial Council to complete the new Social Services building in pasaje San Miguel. The project was started many, many years ago after a cooperation agreement was signed with the Junta de Andalucia to build and operate the new centre.
Mijas limits noise levels at weekends
Mijas Council has modified its Coexistence Ordinance to limit the noise generated by the execution of building works and repairs during weekends. From 15:00 on Saturday to 08:00 on Monday the noise level must not exceed 65 decibels, the aim being to afford residents a bit of rest.

Over 50 companies bid for SUP 4 project
Over fifty companies have put in bids for the SUP 4 (Fuente del Badén) development project, eight of whom have been asked to justify their proposals due to the low price being offered.
37 bidders for El Romeral project
A total of 37 companies have submitted tenders for the infrastructure works in the area known as El Romeral or the SUP-8 sector. According to the Councillor for Infrastructure, José Alberto Tomé, this reflects a healthy situation throughout the municipality.
