The Mayor of Nerja has announced the possible imminent start, perhaps in the second week of October, of two projects funded under the Programa Encamina 2 of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development, these being the construction of three fords/bridges over the rio Seco and the asphalting of the Camino de Viltor in Rio de la Miel.

Projects shelved in Torrox
The current economic crisis, particularly affecting coastal towns which became dependent upon the construction industry after the building boom of the past decade, appears to have resulted in the shelving, at least temporarily, of two major projects in Torrox.
Casabermeja building projects
The Mayor of Casabermeja, Antonio Domínguez, has opened negotiations with three local companies relating to two projects to be financed with state funds. One is the completion of work on the entrance to the town, valued at €123,608.23, and the other is improvements to the drinking water network, valued at €183,403.44.
Council wants to end ‘cultural interest’ link
The Nerja Council is wanting to end the ‘Cultural Interest’ link between the village of Maro and the Nerja Caves, something which has been in operation since the 1960’s and means that all building projects have to be approved by the Ministry of Culture.
