The building works at Ferrara Playa in Torrox Costa and on the road through the centre of Torrox Pueblo have been at a standstill for more than a week due to a dispute over the non-payment of wages between the contractor CHM and the sub-contractor EISUR.

Building projects
In Plaza Cantarero, the renovations are moving along, which is more than can be said of Plaza de la Ermita where little appears to have changed in the past week. The works in Plaza Cavana are now into their fourth month but there is still a long way to go before the square is finished.
Is it working?…
Millions and millions are being pumped into local municipalities in attempts to revitalise local economies and the talk is of ‘sustainable’ growth, ‘sustainable’ tourism, ‘sustainable’ economy and ‘sustainable’ just about everything else. But is it working?

Plaza Cantarero, February 15th 2010
Oranges are strewn all over the floor as there has been quite a bit of progress on the renovation of Plaza Cantarero (Orange Square). The good news is that the ornamental fountain in the square has not been touched and looks set to remain as it is, or was.
Plaza de la Ermita, February 15th 2010
Work on Plaza de la Ermita has finally started and the whole square has now been dug up, including the old fountain, ready for the next stage of the project.
Calle Granada closed to through traffic
The expanding works in Plaza Cavana mean that the bottom of calle Granada is now closed to traffic. The top part is still accessible from the exit of the underground car park. From calle Diputación it is now possible to access calle El Barrio for those wanting to take the scenic route, although the corner is bumpy and great care …
