These are the latest pictures from the Balcón de Europa and Plaza Cavana as the two sets of roadworks continue to converge, work now going on at the side of the El Salvador church. Several businesses have already been forced to close until the works are completed, a few more may well have to follow suit.
Nice wide pavement in calle Jaén
Work is progressing in calle Jaén, one side of the street now having a lovely wide pavement. Access to Plaza La Marina from calle Jaén has now been restored but the street remains limited access for pedestrians, in theory only residents or those visiting the shops or businesses.
Plaza Cavana today
Plenty of movement on the building front in Plaza Cavana with a temporary container in place and more of the square being dug up.
Plaza Cavana November 13th
A lot of activity today Plaza Cavana as the renovation work appears to be getting properly underway and speeding up. Work has been going on in the central area, a huge mound of earth now in evidence, and at the side where new pipes are to be laid.
Activity in Plaza Cavana
Signs of progress in Plaza Cavana after a week of little or no action with a long trench now having been dug along one side.
More upheaval on the Balcón de Europa
More upheaval on the Balcón de Europa as work has now started on the square where all the restaurants are located. The earliest this will be finished is apparently February, although it is proposed to put down a temporary surface for New Year.
The disruption…
With all the building works going on at the moment, Plaza Cavana, calle Pintada, calle Carabeo, Balcon de Europa, plus those about to start, such as Plaza Canterero, and others that are planned, such as Plaza de la Ermita, you can’t help but have sympathy for some of the businesses, bars and shops, in these areas.
No change…
Nothing appears to have happened in Plaza Cavana since the initial enthusiasm at the end of last week.
Plaza Cavana this morning…
A few days ahead of schedule, this is Plaza Cavana this morning. Notice the conspicuous absence of any sort of workforce after the initial flurry!
