A woman is in the Burns Unit at the Carlos Haya Hospital in Málaga following a fire on Saturday morning at her home in Canillas de Aceituno.
New plaza inaugurated in Canillas de Aceituno
Local and provincial dignitaries attended the inauguration of the new Plaza de las Palmeras in Canillas de Aceituno, a €135,426 project funded through the Plan Proteja. The 1,435 square metre Plaza, with a viewpoint looking out of the Axarquia, sits on top of what will be a three-storey car park.
Four mountaineers rescued
On Monday night, Guardia Civil Mountain Rescue (Sereim) officers located and rescued four mountaineers who had managed to become disoriented while hiking in the mountains between Málaga and Granada provinces. They had set off from Canillas de Aceituno but the weather caused them to lose their way and they phoned for help.

A forest fire which began shortly after 14:00 on Friday near Canillas de Aceituno in Málaga province has been brought under control, initial estimates suggesting that around 85 hectares of land have been affected.
