A fairly even first leg semi-final match between Atlético Madrid and Chelsea in the Champions League, neither side really looking as though they were going to score and the match ending in a 0-0 draw.
Atlético and Bayern into the semis
A fifth minute goal from Koke saw Atlético beat Barcelona 1-0, 2-1 on aggregate, to progress to the semi finals. Barcelona dominated possession, over 70%, as they do, but Atlético got the goal that mattered.
Real Madrid and Chelsea march on
Real Madrid are through to the last four of the Champions League, but only just. Reus scored twice as Borussia Dortmund won 2-0 on the night but it wasn’t quite enough to overcome the three goal deficit from the first leg.
Real Madrid 3-0 Borussia Dortmund
A goal from Bale after just three minutes, two more from Isco and Ronaldo and a clean sheet at home have put Real Madrid firmly in the driving seat in their Champions League tie with Borussia Dortmund. The only slight concern is that Ronaldo limped off injured.
Barcelona 1-1 Atlético Madrid
Two great goals, the first from Diego and the second from Neymar, made it 1-1 in the first leg of the Champions League duel between Barcelona and Atlético Madrid. Slight advantage for Atlético then for the second leg.
Real Madrid 3-1 FC Schalke 04
Cristiano Ronaldo netted twice as Real Madrid reached the Champions League last eight with a 9-2 aggregate win over German side Schalke 04.
Barcelona through to the quarter finals
Barcelona have reached the Champions League quarter-finals for the seventh straight season, equalling the records of Manchester United and Real Madrid, after beating Manchester City 2-1 on the night, 4-1 on aggregate. Messi and Alves scored for Barcelona, Kompany getting the goal for City.
Atlético 4-1 Milan
Atlético Madrid have reached the quarter finals of the Champions League for the first time since 1987 with a 4-1 (5.1 aggregate) win over AC Milan.
AC Milan 0-1 Atlético Madrid
Atlético Madrid have a valuable away goal from their Champions League first leg encounter against AC Milan, Diego Costa scoring the only goal of the match in the 88th minute.
Manchester City 0-2 Barcelona
Barcelona take a two goal lead for the second, home leg of their Champions League match against Manchester City.
