Rincón de la Victoria Council will have the use of three cleaning boats during the summer, two operating from June 15th to September 15th and one from July 1st to August 31st.
Minimal cleaning on the western Costa del Sol
Technicians from the Mancomunidad Costa del Sol Occidental will not have the task of clearing floating debris from the sea this year as, for varying reasons, the eight municipalities involved have not requested cleaning boats.
Clean sweep…
If these bins were emptied last night or early this morning then an awful lot of people are putting rubbish out at the wrong time. Meanwhile, down on Torrecilla beach – which was packed -the sea was crystal clear. Well, close to shore anyway.
Criticism over the placing of marker buoys
The marker buoys are expected to be placed along the Nerja coastline during the next few days but the Councillor for Beaches, Jonathan Méndez, is not happy about what he sees as a ‘delay’ and is critical of the management of the Mancomunidad (Association of Municipalities of the Costa del Sol-Axarquia), the body responsible for this service.
Debts threaten installation of marker buoys
The beaches in Vélez-Málaga, Algarrobo and Torrox could end up without the marker buoys this summer due to accumulated debts for this service between 2007 and 2009. Only two municipalities, Nerja and Rincón de la Victoria, are fully paid up and guaranteed to be provided with the service.
