The Minneapolis based company Cargill has ceased to have any direct manufacturing base in Andalucia following the closure of its sunflower seed crushing plant and oil bottling facility in Sevilla. The silos in Córdoba have also been closed.
Ayamonte Parador closes
The Ayamonte Parador has closed today and will remain closed until March 14th 2013 as part of cost cutting measures being introduced within the Parador Group. It will also close between November 4th and December 31st.
Sanlúcar de Barrameda golf course closes
Sanlúcar de Barrameda golf course has closed, another victim of the economic crisis. The promoter, Alfonso de Hohenlohe, originally anticipated the construction of luxury hotels, a marina, an equestrian centre, auditorium and houses and employment for 1,000 people, but this never came to pass.
Málaga Internment Centre to close this month
The Internment Centre for Foreigners (CIE) in plaza de Capuchinos in Málaga will close permanently on June 20th, with the 13 current inmates, 11 men and two women, being transferred to centres in Madrid and Algeciras.
Panrico to close Sevilla plant
