A 42-year-old man, named as Santiago Donato Santiago Muñoz, died on Friday while felling trees near his home in the village of La Molina in the municipality of Cútar.
IX Fiesta del Monfí
Thousands of people attended the IX Fiesta del Monfí in the small village of Cútar at the weekend, enjoying a medieval market, local delicacies, falconry and horse riding exhibitions, dancing and other activities.
New medical office in Cútar
The village of Cútar has a new medical consultation office to serve the 600 inhabitants, the building having been inaugurated on Tuesday at a ceremony attended by the territorial delegate for Health and Social Welfare, Daniel Pérez, the president of the Provincial Council, Elias Bendodo, and the mayor of Cútar, Francisco Javier Ruiz.
Water problems in the Benamargosa valley
Five municipalities in the Benamargosa valley have not been receiving water from Lake Viñuela since Saturday November 17th due to damage caused to pipes by the last storms. Almáchar, El Borge, Benamargosa, Cútar and Comares are the affected municipalities with a total population of around 7,000 residents.

Pollution in Cútar
Residents in Cútar have reported that untreated sewage has been regularly discharged into the stream in the municipality and the opposition PSOE is requesting the ruling PP to do something about the situation. The underlying problem is apparently that the local treatment plant has not been functioning properly for about the past four months.
Provincial funding for Cútar and Almáchar
Málaga Provincial Council has approved spending of €54,348 for improvements to infrastructure in the municipalities of Cútar and Almáchar.
