The environmental consultative group GENA-Ecologists in Action has submitted an official complaint (denuncia) to the Environmental Prosecutor about the decision to grant permission for a sunbed and umbrella concession on El Cañuelo beach in the Maro-Cerro Gordo natural area. GENA says the authorisation is the result of continuous pressure from the Nerja Council.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Environment has accepted a request by the Nerja Council to include a sunbed and beach umbrella service for El Cañuelo beach in the 2013 Beach Plan. The Beach Plan itself still has to be approved by the Department of Coasts.
