On Sunday, forty-two people battled it out on El Playazo beach in the IV Nerja Aquathlon, an event involving running 1,000 metres, swimming 400 metres and then running another 1,000 metres for good measure. And the winners in the various categories were:
Two injured in boating accident
Two people were injured, one of them seriously, after falling from their boat off El Playazo beach.
II Trofeo de Pesca
Sunday sees the II Trofeo de Pesca – Fishing Competition – for young people on El Playazo beach in Nerja, with trophies, gifts and food for all the competitors.
Murcia win the petanca championships
A team from Murcia became the champions of Spain after winning the Men’s Junior Petanca Championships held at El Playazo beach at the weekend, beating a team from Alicante in the final.
El Playazo promenade to be debated
The Council is proposing to discuss a motion to make the land at El Playazo beach available to the Ministry of Environment in preparation for the building of a promenade at the beach.

El Playazo bar ordered to close
The Town Hall has ordered the immediate closure of a bar on El Playazo beach and has started proceedings to fine the owners €80,000 in relation to violation of the PGOU.
