With one confirmation pending, a total of 13 people lost their lives in Andalucia during 2009 as a result of domestic violence, 5 more than during 2008. In only one case had there been a prior complaint for abuse and only one case involved a foreigner. Jaén and Cádiz were the only provinces where no such deaths occurred.
Motorists and mobile phones
The DGT campaign relating to the use of mobile phones by drivers, carried out between November 2nd and November 22nd, has resulted in 432 people in Málaga province being reported for violations.
