Evacuees return to their homes in Estepona

Ground forces continue to monitor the site of the fire in Estepona which resulted in the precautionary evacuation of four urbanisations and an apartahotel on Saturday evening, although all but a few people have been allowed to return to their homes.

A fire late last night in the Los Morales area of Alcaucín, Málaga province, destroyed around 1.3 hectares of olive groves. The fire began at 10:30 and was brought under control at 01:30 this morning. No-one was injured in the blaze and it was not necessary to evacuate anyone from their homes.

A forest fire which began yesterday on La Gomera has already destroyed 3,000 hectares of land and the authorities believe it will be at least 24 hours before it can be brought under control.
