A technical fault with the Automatic Air Traffic Control System (SACTA) at Madrid airport has caused numerous delays to flights in many parts of the country today.
Air route between Almeria and Sevilla could end in January 2014
Since 2010, Air Nostrum has been operating a round trip between Almería and Sevilla, but the concession runs out in January 14th and there has been no news as to whether this airline or another entity will continue to fly between the two cities.
More routes out of Málaga airport this summer
There are 22 new routes operating out of Málaga airport this summer with 80% being international traffic. Amongst the new routes are more flights to Dortmund, Cologne, Nuremberg, Oslo,Madrid, Melilla and Barcelona. Scheduled flights to and from Málaga are currently 10% up on last year.
Flights between Sevilla and Madrid reduced by fifty percent
Iberia Express is reducing the number of flights between Sevilla and Madrid from 29 to 14 per week. As from November 29th there will be 16 flights per week and then in December it will be reduced to 14 per week.
Iberia suspends Jerez to Madrid flights
As from today, Sunday October 28th, there are no more Iberia planes flying between Jerez and Madrid, this route now neing put in the hands of the airline’s low-cost subsidiaries, Iberia Express and Air Nostrum.
Flights from Iceland to Jerez resume for the season
This weekend sees the resumption of the seasonal flights between Jerez and Rykjavik (Iceland) and Köln (Germany) which will continue until October 27th.
Easter Week flights
Over 8.5 million passengers are expected to pass through Spanish airports during Easter Week, an increase of 9.7% on last year.
189 flight cancellations in Spain
The continuing problems with volcanic ash from Iceland resulted in 189 flights being cancelled throughout Spain on Monday.
More flights between Málaga and Scandinavia
The number of direct flights between Málaga and the Scandinavian countries is on the increase, with over one hundred now in operation. In the first quarter of 2010, the number of visitors from Sweden has increased by 20% when compared to 2009.
Almería to Dusseldorf with Ryanair
Ryanair has now started operating flights between Almería and Dusseldorf using Boeing 737-800 aircraft with a capacity of 189 passengers. The flights are on Wednesdays and Sundays.
