Ecija once again badly affected by flooding

Members of the Protección Civil, Fire Brigade and even INFOCA are busy cleaning up the debris in Ecija, badly hit bu flooding for the second time this month.

Less overnight rain eases flooding problems

Less heavy rain last night has brought a bit of respite to areas of Jaén, Córdoba and Sevilla where there has been widespread flooding although an AEMET alert for more heavy rains remains in operation for most of today.

Severe flooding in Ecija

Sevilla province has been the worst hit by storms in the past couple of days with the rio Genil rising by 7.3 metres. The town of Ecija has suffered severe flooding with up to 30% of the old town under water and forcing the evacuation of the hospital.

Floods in Algámitas, Sevilla

Storms last night caused the arroyo  Ballesteros in Algámitas, Sevilla, to overflow, with several cars being swept away and homes being flooded. The Fire Brigade had to rescue several people who were trapped in their homes.

The imminent overflow of the rio Guadalquivir in Sevilla has resulted in 50 families in Lora del Río being evacuated from their homes as a precautionary measure.

The río Guadalquivir has burst its banks near the small town of Mogón in Jaén province and ten homes in the village of Villacarrillo have been flooded.
