This summer has seen the least amount of fire damage in Andalucia for a decade, with 684 hectares being destroyed.
Summer fire damage in Málaga province at record low
Due to a wet winter, stimulating the growth of plants and trees, combined with a long, hot summer season, the risk of forest fires in Málaga province was, and still is, considered to be extremely high, but according to the latest figures, 2010 could prove to be a record low as far as fire damage is concerned.
Four fires in Valencia
Four forest fires continue to burn in Valencia, two of them thought to have been started intentionally, although the blazes have now been stabilised.

Bad year for fires
So far this year, 75,000 hectares of land have been destroyed by fire, more than double the figure for the the whole of 2008. The total for 2008 was 34, 875 hectares.
Seven detentions in connection with forest fires
The summer fires continue, having so far claimed seven lives and resulted in seven people being detained in connection with various incidents.
Fires in Casarabonela and Marbella
Two fires in Málaga province have so far destroyed more than 100 hectares of land as firefighters, with air support, battle to control and extinguish the blazes.
Annual fire restrictions in forest areas comes into force
Beginning this year, the annual prohibition of fires and vehicular access to forest and agricultural areas has become a fixed period, from June 1st to October 15th, and will not be published each year as was previously the case.
Forest fires under control
Two forest fires, in Zuera (Zaragoza) and Honrubia de la Sierra (Segovia) have so far destroyed 3,000 hectares of land.
