There are no mechanical fairground attractions this year at the Virgen del Carmen celebrations in Los Boliches, Fuengirola, due to the failure of the operators and Council to reach an agreement on economic matters.
Man arrested for indecent exposure
A 25-year-old Moroccan national, on holiday in Fuengirola, has been arrested for an alleged crime of indecent exposure at the beach.
Summer cinema on the beach
This summer will once again see an outdoor cinema on the beach with films being shown on July 23rd and 30th and August 6th and 13th. It is all free, those attending just need to bring a towel or beach chair to sit on.
Fuengirola beach services
The beaches in Fuengirola now have lifeguard and rescue services provided by the company Medios Acuáticos S.L. and the service will continue until September 15th 2013.
Temporary licences for street performers
Fuengirola Council has created a Special Plan for the Better Use of Public Roads 2013 which, amongst other things, regulates ‘live’ performances by street artists in public places in the town. The Council plans to issue 15 temporary licences, valid until December 31st, to 7 musicians, 4 portrait painters, 2 mime artists and 2 children’s entertainers.
Uniform for sunbed operators
The sunbed concessionaires on the beaches of Fuengirola now have a standard uniform as part of plans to improve the general image of the town for visitors. The scheme is being introduced progressively during June.
30 evacuated following fire in apartment block
Around thirty residents of an apartment block on the Paseo Jesús Santos Rein in Fuengirola had to be evacuated from their homes on Tuesday afternoon after fire broke out in a second floor home.
Two elderly British nationals found dead at their home in Fuengirola
The National Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths of two brothers, both aged 83 years and British nationals, at their home in calle Federico Ruiz Vertedor in Fuengirola.
Thieves caught red-handed
Guardia Civil officers in Fuengirola have arrested three people, all Spanish nationals, after catching them red-handed stealing copper cable and various appliances, including air conditioning units, from a Ministry of Public Works storage facility in the city.
Annual pest control programme
The Health Department of Fuengirola Council has begun a programme of disinfection, decontamination and pest control in public buildings and public spaces in the run-up to the hot summer season and the possible appearance of cockroaches and other critters.
