Strike in Armilla called off

The strike by employees of the cleaning company in Armilla, Granada, is over, at least temporarily, after the Council and the cleaning company agreed to provide €2 million to pay the forty workers who have not been paid since August. The agreement must be fulfilled before next week otherwise the strike will resume.

Priest in trouble for shooting at pigeons

A parish priest in Puebla de Don Fadrique, Granada province, has been denounced by SEPRONA for shooting at pigeons from the steeple of his church.

Search for missing woman in Guadix

A search has been launched in Guadix, Granada, for a 31 year old woman, seventy-two hours after her family reported her missing. The Guardia Civil, Local Police, Fire Brigade and Civil Protection are participating in the search.

Good start to ski season in Granada

Around 5,500 people visited the Sierra Nevada ski resort on the first weekend of the new ski season with 40 kilometres of skiable pistes, four times the opening day average.

Sierra Nevada ski station opens on Saturday

The Sierra Nevada ski station will open on Saturday November 26th with 26 kilometres of skiable pistes in Borreguiles, Veleta (10 red, 8  blue and 11 green runs)  and, for the first time on an opening day, in Laguna de las Yeguas.

31 illegal immigrants intercepted south of Maribas del Este

A small boat carrying 31 North African males was intercepted south of Marinas del Este, near Punta de la Mona, in Granada provice just before midnight last night. The passengers, all apparently in good health, were taken to Motril for further processing.
