Sierra Nevada ski resort

Around 6,600 people visited the Sierra Nevada ski resort over the weekend, 4,000 of these being skiers. There were seven kilometres of skiable pistes and six lifts were in operation. With the right weather conditions during the coming days, it is possible that the main El Río run could open shortly.

Two injured in street brawl

On Thursday evening, National Police officers in Granada arrested five people who were involved in a serious street brawl which left two people injured, one with gunshot wounds and the other with stab wounds.

Woman dies after falling from car

A woman died in the early hours of this morning after exiting a car on the A-345 near Albuñol. It is not yet known whether this was of her own doing or whether she was pushed.

Sax appeal

Police arrested a 23 year old professional soldier who stole two saxophones, valued at €7,000, from a car belonging to a music teacher. The soldier was detained as he tried to sell one of the instruments at a local market. Presumably he will be entered on the sax offenders register.

Road traffic fatality in Baza

A man died in the early hours of this morning in Baza, Granada, after being run over after he left his own car which had been involved in an accident.

Graffiti artists caught red-handed

Two graffiti artists caught painting on the Albaicín monastery are the first to suffer the consequences of the new municipal ordinances in Granada whereby the defacing of protected monuments is classified as ‘gross misconduct’ and carries a €3,000 fine.

Man dies in farmhouse fire

A 78 year old man died yesterday in a fire at his farm in Jerez del Marquesado, Granada province. His charred body was found, face down, in his finca. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
