Mercadona has waived subsidies granted by the Junta de Andalucia (€2.5 million) and the town of Guadiz (€1.3 million) for the construction of a new distribution centre in Guadix, saying that the money should be spent on promoting new businesses and social projects in the community.

Fuengirola to maintain nursery school grants for 2013
The Department of Social Services in Fuengirola has decided to maintain the grants for families with fewer resources and who are outside the regional scholarship system for nursery child care.
Regional government rejects request for grants for the purchase of agricultural machinery
A request by Nerja Council for the Junta de Andalucia to provide grants to local farmers for the purchase of new agricultural machinery has, not unexpectedly, been rejected. The Council made the request at the end of August 2012. Despite his rejection, the Council intends to continue pursuing the matter.
Grants and subsidies for local associations
Vélez-Málaga Council is allocating a total of €42,000 in grants and subsidies for local associations and organisations, representing the €27,000 allocated by the previous administration (but not paid out in 2010) plus an additional €15,000.
Council requesting grants for local farmers
The Council is asking the provincial delegate of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Environment to establish a line of financial support to allow farmers in Nerja to purchase the necessary machinery to crush and reintegrate agricultural residue back into the soil.
