Iberia has announced that as from mid-January it will be suspending flights to Athens, Cairo and Istanbul and, from April 1st 2013, flights to Santo Domingo and Havana. The changes are part of the restructuring of the company announced in November.

Unions representing cabin crew and ground staff at Iberia are threatening to hold a six-day strike just ahead of the Christmas holiday period in protest against restructuring plan imposed on the loss-making airline by its parent company IAG. British Airways-owner IAG has announced 4,500 job cuts at Iberia as part of an anticipated restructuring of the Spanish carrier.Iberia is reducing its fleet by 25 aircraft and reducing its capacity by 15%, with the airline focusing on the most profitable routes, of which there are apparently very few, if any, at the moment.
