Almost half of the buildings in the municipality of Competa, 1,577 out of 3,612, are apparently on rural or non-developable land, making them illegal.
Regularisation of illegally built homes
The Council has also approved a new rates tax to, in effect, legalise those homes and other buildings built on rural, non-urban or otherwise non-developable land. Ronda Council has ordered the demolition of 63 buildings built between 2003 and 2009 on protected, undeveloped land.
Over 2,000 illegal buildings in Torrox
An inventory of irregular housing in the Axarquia presented by the Junta de Andalucia in March 2011 lists some 12,760 illegal buildings, most of which could become legal on January 10th 2012 as announced by the president of the Junta de Andalucia, José Antonio Griñán. However, only 22 of the 31 municipalities submitted inventories and there are some important omissions.
