Busy day at sea

The Marine Rescue Service were busy yesterday off the coast of Almería, intercepting six boats carrying a total of 86 illegal immigrants, most from North Africa.

Rescued from sinking boat

Guardia Civil officers this afternoon rescued four Algerians from their half submerged boat about 39 miles southeast of Cabo de Gata, Almería.

Screams alert passing ship

Guardia Civil and Marine Rescue officers this morning intercepted a small inflatable dinghy carrying five Moroccan immigrants about 7.4 miles off Tarifa, Cádiz province.

Ten illegal immigrants intercepted

Two small inflatable boats carrying ten Moroccan male immigrants were intercepted in the early hours of Monday morning about five miles from Tarifa in Cádiz province. All the passengers were said to be in good health.

Search for rudderless drifters

Maritime Rescue and Guardia Civil patrols are searching the area around Cabo de Gata for a boat carrying a number of illegal immigrants after one of the passengers phoned to say they were rudderless and drifting.

Seven minors in a plastic boat

A small boat carrying six North African minors was intercepted early this morning about one and a half miles off Tarifa.

Illegals spotted off Estepona

A small boat carrying six adult male would-be immigrants was spotted this morning by a freighter about thirty miles southeast of Estepona.

More arrivals off Isla de Alborán

A boat carrying 36 sub-Saharan citizens arrived off the coast near the Isla de Alborán yesterday and were escorted to the port of Almería where Red Cross officials were on hand to help them. Apart from being a bit tired, all were said to be in good health.
