Torrox Council is finalising the paperwork to begin a number of infrastructure projects, with €970,000 of funding having been made available through a budget amendment and a further €500,000 from the Fund for Sustainable Tourism.

A total of fourteen companies have submitted bids to build a Football 7 pitch in the Parque Verano Azul, the lowest bid being from the company Cade in the amount of €253,437.43. This bid has been provisionally accepted by decree pending full agreement of the Council.

It is to be hoped that the austerity cuts demanded by the EU and being implemented by the Spanish government, measures which include slashing pay and putting infrastructure projects on ice, will not hinder the completion of the (numerous) building works currently in progress in town.
