Kiosk up for grabs

The Nerja town council has decided to grant a concession to lease the snack kiosk, which is owned by the council

End of an era

The last of the traditional family-run kiosks in Nerja, the Kiosko Cerica in avenida Pescia, has been consigned to history. The six square metre metal kiosk had been operated by Manuel Gutiérrez and his family for the past 42 years, at various times selling newspapers and magazines, tobacco, sweets, drinks, toys and other items.

And suddenly there it wasn’t…

It has been there for donkey’s years (where did that expression come from? Keep reading to find out.) with the same family ownership, but now it has suddenly gone. It’s the kiosk near Plaza Marina on avenida Castilla Perez. A bit like the one that used to always be in Plaza Cavana, part of the furniture as it were.

Maro beach kiosk concession

The Council has approved the terms and conditions for awarding the kiosk concession for Maro beach.

Kiosk for Maro beach

Maro beach will have a refreshment kiosk this year after the unfortunate demise of chiringuito Las Palomas last February, the bar being completely destroyed by fire.

Gone…

After 30 years, the metal kiosk on Plaza Cavana has gone. There can’t be many people who haven’t bought something at the kiosk at sometime or other, be it an ice cream or whatever. But it’s gone now, never to return.
