Málaga will have to wait until the end of the day to see if they can hang on to fourth place in La Liga after a 1-1 draw with Real Zaragoza on Sunday.
Granada 1-0 Real Madrid
A header from Cristiano Ronaldo was the only goal of the match against Granada on Saturday evening, but unfortunately it was into his own net. This latest setback means they could end up 18 points behind leaders Barcelona by the end of the weekend and with little or no chance of defending their La Liga title.
Another four for Messi
After their hiccup the other week which saw them lose their first match of the 2012-13 season, Barcelona were back to winning ways with a 5-1 win over Osasuna.
Real Madrid 4-0 Getafe
Four second half goals, one from Sergio Ramos and three from Cristiano Ronaldo, one from the penalty spot, saw Real Madrid cruise past Getafe on Sunday evening. That keeps them comfortably in third place in La Liga, although 15 points behind the leaders, Barcelona.
Deportivo 2-3 Valencia
Valencias are up to fifth place in La Liga after fighting back to win 2-3 at bottom club Deportivo.
Valencia 0-5 Real Madrid
Atletico Madrid closed the gap on the leaders at the top of La Liga to a mere eight points after a 2-0 win against Levante, Adrian and Koke doing the damage.
First loss for Barcelona
After only dropping two points in the first half of the season, Barcelona suffered their first loss on Saturday as they went down 3-2 at Real Sociedad.
Málaga 1-3 Barcelona
Málaga slip down to fifth place after Betis beat Levante 2-0 and the Blue and Whites went down 3-1 to runaway leaders Barcelona. Messi, Fabregas and Thiago were the scorers for Barcelona, Buonanotte curling a late free kick into the top corner of the net for a consolation goal.
Osasuna 0-0 Real Madrid
La Liga looks pretty much like a one-horse race at this stage, roughly the midpoint of the season. Real Madrid did themselves no good with a 0-0 draw at Osasuna and could find themselves 18 points adrift of their arch-rivals by the end of the weekend.
Real Madrid 4-3 Real Sociedad
Real Madrid made a bright start, Benzema scoring after two minutes, but were reduced to ten men after just six minutes of their match against Real Sociedad after goalkeeper Adán was dismissed for bringing down Carlos Vela inside the area.
