Ten wins and a draw for Barcelona so far this season, equalling the best start to a season set by Real Madrid. On Sunday they saw off Mallorca, beating the islanders 2-4.
Málaga 1-2 Real Sociedad
Málaga may well be doing well in Europe but they are beginning to lose sight of the leaders in La Liga after a second successive defeat, this time to Real Sociedad. Málaga are now ten points adrift and have played a game more than the leaders.
Real Madrid up to third place in La Liga
Málaga slip down to fourth place after a 1-2 home defeat at the hands of Rayo Vallecano, Piti scoring twice for the visitors and Demichelis on target for the Blue and Whites.
Mallorca 0-5 Real Madrid
Atlético Madrid remain second in La Liga, level on points with Barcelona, after a comfortable 3-1 win over Osasuna. Miranda, Raul garcia and Falcao were on target for Atlético, Lamah pulling one back for Osasuna.
Rayo 0-5 Barcelona
Barcelona remain top of La Liga after a rather flattering 0-5 win at Rayo Vallecano on Saturday evening, three of the goals coming in the final ten minutes after Rayo failed to make the most of some great chances.
Barcelona win thriller
Three early goals from Alba, Tello and Messi and Barcelona were cruising against Deportivo but a Pizzi penalty and a strike from Bergantiños put the home side back in the game.
Another win for Malaga CF
They had to come from a goal down but another good performance from the Blue and Whites as they beat Valladolid 2-1.
Atlético Madrid 2-1 Málaga
The visit to Atletico Madrid was always going to be a stern test for Málaga and so it proved on Sunday. Falcao put the home side ahead after just six minutes but Santa Cruz levelled things before the break.
Messi 2-2 Ronaldo
Honours even in the first clasico of the season at the Camp Nou, a better result for Barcelona as they maintain their eight point gap over their fierce rivals. However, it is the first time this season they have not won. Two goals from Messi and two from Ronaldo, as one might expect, so honours even on all counts.
Real Madrid 5-1 Deportivo
Nerja’s poor run continues after they were beaten 4-0 by Mijas, making it four losses out of four. Meanwhile, Real Madrid continue to climb up the table and are now in sixth place after a 5-1 win over Deportivo on Sunday.
