Entertaining match between Valencia and Getafe, end to end action, and a result which loosens the Che’s grip on third place in La Liga.
Barca and Real march on
Barcelona keeping up the pressure with a 0-2 win against RCD Mallorca at the Iberostar stadium, despite being reduced to ten men after Thiago was dismissed for a second bookable offence.
Málaga 4-2 Rayo Vallecano
Málaga completed an impressive and deserved 4-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano at La Rosaleda on Thursday evening, although they had to rally from going down to an early penalty.
Valencia slipping
Valencia’s grip on third place in La Liga is beginning to slip and on Wednesday night they were beaten 1-2 by bottom club Zaragoza. Pablo gave Valencia an early lead but two goals from Apoño, one from the penalty spot, gave victory to Zaragoza.
Villarreal hold Real Madrid to 1-1 draw
Fourteen yellow cards and two red for players, Mourinho and Rui Faria dismissed from the Real Madrid bench and a game played at a frantic pace, what more could one ask?
Messi sets new record
Another hat-trick from Lionel Messi on Tuesday night saw him break Barcelona’s 60 year old goal-scoring record set by Cesar Rodriguez.
Madrid 1-1 Málaga
A last minute strike from Cazorla, a beautifully hit free kick, earned Málaga a draw at the Bernabeu stadium in Madrid, cancelling out Benzema’s first half goal. Madrid are now only eight points clear at the top of La Liga and will be disappointed with the score considering their general domination of the match.
Comfortable win for Barcelona
First half goals from Xavi and, almost inevitably, Lionel Messi were enough to see Barcelona comfortably past Sevilla at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuan on Saturday evening, the Catalans closing the gap at the top to seven points pending Sunday’s matches.
Racing Santander 0-2 Barcelona
Two9 goals from Lionel Messi, bringing him up to 30 for the season so far, gave Barcelona a 0-2 victory over Racing Santander at El Sardinero on Sunday and reduced the deficit at the top of La Liga to ten points.
Real Betis 2-3 Real Madrid
A win is a win, but it wasn’t a very convincing performance from Real Madrid and they could easily have lost their match against Real Betis if two clear penalty incidents had not been passed over by the referee.
