Win for Nerja, a draw for Málaga
Nerja are now only two points behind leaders San Pedro in the Primera Andaluxa Grupo3 after a fine 1-3 win over Rincón. San Pedro, who not so long ago were ten points clear at the top, slipped up again, going down 4-2 to fifth placed Real Jaén B.
Barcelona 3-1 Almeria
After a goalless first half, Almeria took the lead against Barcelona early in the second period with a goal from Corona, but it was short-lived.
Athletic Bilbao 0-3 Real Madrid
Two penalties from Kaka and a goal by Ronaldo were enough to see Real Madrid comfortably past Athletic Bilbao, the final score 0-3.
Levante 3-1 Málaga
Not what the doctor ordered, Málaga on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline away to Levante.
Barcelona go eight points clear
Piqué scored the only goal of the match for Barcelona as they beat Villarreal 1-0 on Saturday and extended their lead at the top of La Liga to eight points.
Real Madrid 0-1 Sporting Gijón
A goal from De las Cuevas in the 79th minute condemned Real Madrid to a home defeat against Sporting Gijón and severely dented what little championship hopes they had remaining. This result also means that Jose Mourinho’s nine-year, 150-match unbeaten league home record as a manager comes to an end.
Málaga 2-0 Espanyol
Two first half goals from Rondón gave Málaga a much needed win against Espanyol on Sunday and they move up to third from bottom and within striking distance of the next few teams above them. As long as they don’t try to leave salvation until the last day, again.
Top two both win
No change at the top of La Liga as both Barcelona and Real Madrid were victorious on Saturday evening.
